Understanding GMAT Test to Study Abroad

GMAT is a standardized test that international students are required to appear for in order to secure admission at a foreign business school. It is a test that judges students’ readiness in order to study at a foreign university. The test is administered by GMAC and aims at measuring the applicant’s comprehension and command of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, multi-source data. GMAT Test Pattern

The Graduate Management Admission Test is a standardized test to study overseas at a foreign school. It consists of the following sections:


  Analytical Writing Assessment

The first section consists of Analytical Writing Assessment that evaluates the reasoning behind the given argument through a draft that students write to critique the argument. These arguments are generally related to the topics of general interest. Within the given time span of 30-minutes, students are required to write an essay on the given topic. 


  Integrated Reasoning

Integrated Reasoning is the section in the GMAT examination that assesses the applicant’s ability to integrate data in order to solve complex problems. The section contains four types of questions that are based on the topics like Multi-Source Reasoning, Graphics Interpretation, Table Analysis, and Two-Part Analysis. The time span allotted for this section is of 30 minutes and students are expected to solve this section within the given span.


  Quantitative

Aiming to measure students’ ability in order to solve the quantitative problems, mathematical reasoning to interpret the graphical data. This particular section consists of 31 multiple choice questions and students are expected to solve this section within the span of 62 minutes.


  Verbal

Aiming to measure the student’s ability to read, assess and comprehend the written material by evaluating arguments and using the correct material to express ideas effectively in the English language. The verbal reasoning section contains 36 multiple choice questions based on the areas like reading comprehension, sentence correction, critical reasoning. The time allotted for this particular section is of 65 minutes and students are expected to adhere to it.
