As any other English proficiency test, all the 4 skills – Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening are measured in Duolingo English Test as well. By practicing on these skills in day to day life will naturally improve your English language skills and make you half ready for the test. SA few basic things that you can do on a daily basis are:

  1. Speaking with your friends in English
  2. Reading Newspapers and Magazines
  3. Practicing English Writing

Take a Sample Test

To get familiarised with the questions that can be asked through the Duolingo online test, you can take a sample test. To know what to expect on the real test we recommend that you take a sample test so that you will and can focus on doing your best as you can take the sample test as many times as you want as it is free. An estimated score range is provided when you complete the sample test.

Although it is required to know that the score range is unofficial and less accurate; and the sample test is shorter (only eight minutes) as well.

Understand the Rules

To ensure that you followed the rules after you complete the test, a proctor will review your test video. The following rules are to be followed while appearing for the sample test.

  • Not wearing earphones
  • Not interacting with anyone else
  • Not using any communication device (phone, e-mails, etc)
  • Not looking offscreen

If you don’t want to take the exam again it is important to follow these rules during the test. The test rules are included in the instructions at the beginning of the exam and are outlined in the Duolingo FAQs as well.

Prepare to Showcase Yourself

A writing portion and a video interview both are included in the Duolingo English Test which is sent to the university along with your results. This is a great opportunity to showcase yourself and your English language ability in front of the abroad universities and similarly it is convenient for international admissions staff to learn about you as well. For each video interview and the writing sample you have a choice of two question topics where you need to speak for one to three minutes and write for up to five minutes.

Do not worry much about the time as a timer will keep track for you. Don’t get into a panic mode or let the frustration and fear creep in if you get stuck at some point in the exam; instead take a deep breath, and give your best shot.

You can take the test again in case you are unhappy with your performance, as you can review your responses before you share your results with universities.

This is one of the best and convenient language proficiency tests for foreign studies in the present situation. You can contact the study abroad consultants to know more about the same.

All the Best!
